Former city manager will help
In addition to hiring an interim superintendent, the Hays USD 489 school board will conduct a search for Roth's replacement.
The district has asked KASB for information on search firms to consider, said Greg Schwartz, board president.
Since Cain's retirement was unexpected, he wasn't sure this morning how the board would proceed in hiring a deputy superintendent.
An agreement with Randy Gustafson, former Hays city manager, is on the agenda for approval at Monday's meeting.
The agreement is for Gustafson to consult in reviewing issues and criteria in selecting a new superintendent. He also would work with the board to establish criteria a new superintendent could use to establish processes to improve efficiency and innovation. He would be paid $125 an hour for the service, not to exceed 500 hours.
