Four DUI arrests made during saturation patrol

On Saturday, officers of the Hays Police Department conducted DUI saturation patrols in an effort to deter and decrease the number of impaired and intoxicated drivers on the street.

The extra enforcement effort was conducted from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. As a result of the extra enforcement, 16 traffic stops were made. Six drivers were tested, resulting in four DUI arrests. Two drug possession arrests  also were made. A no driver’s license violation was written, along with one speeding, seven hazardous moving violations, and six defective equipment violations.

The event was conducted in accordance with the Kansas Department of Transportation's Impaired Driving Deterrence Program.
