New principal ready to lead his first Hays High open house
By DIANE GASPER-O'BRIEN
Parents and guardians of Hays High School students can visit their children's classrooms and meet their teachers -- and their new principal -- all in the same evening.
Monday's open house begins with a post-secondary planning meeting at 6 p.m. in the Lecture Hall.
Marty Straub, in his first year as principal after 19 years as an assistant principal at Hays High, will address the audience at 7 in Gym A.
Parents then can "attend" their children's classes, following a shortened schedule.
Guidance counselor Kathy Spicer will give information on the process of choosing a college or technical school at the post-secondary meeting. She also will give tips on how to apply for admission and financial aid, etc.
Spicer said the planning meeting is open to all parents but especially encouraged parents of juniors and seniors to attend.
