Schools close in NWKS
Amid a concern about threats of daunting wind-chill readings, several schools across northwest Kansas either called off classes or decided to delay the start of school.
As predicted, the temperature fell sharply, dropping to 8 below zero overnight at the Kansas State University Agricultural Research Center in Hays. Wind chill readings fell to nearly 20 degrees below zero at 8 a.m. This morning's reading is the coldest this winter, although temperatures dropped to 5 below twice in December.
