Working to pay
Are you surprised the Ellis County budget has continued requests to grow larger government? I think we have always had a pretty great county. For years, the operations were handled by the county commissioners, who are salaried and receive insurance benefits. Then suddenly, a few years ago, we needed an administrator to operate the county, which now includes a secretary and office space. Now the administrator is wanting an assistant along with requirements for further office space. So when does this bill for the additional employees, car, salary, equipment and benefit perks get added to the county budget?
Taxes, no matter what form (income, sales, property and taxes that are disguised as fees) will soon be the only thing we are working for if we don't tell all our elected officials to "Just say no."
