Think about the future

Think about the future

Truer words were never spoken. When the education of our children become less important than adding dollars to the pockets of the state's richest, one has to wonder if Kansas is any longer a decent place to live.

Gov. Sam Brownback and his hateful legislature seem to think the poor and middle class forever will take the "slapping around" they are receiving. The rich soon will find they will be choking on their dollars when they can't get anyone to move to Kansas to go to work. The incentive "carrot" dangling on a string at the end of a stick has shrunk already to the point it no longer can be seen in Kansas. After the poor and middle class have moved out of Kansas and only the rich are left, good luck with getting your selfish and greedy neighbors to clean your house, cook your burgers, teach your children, clerk in your store, mow your lawn, plow the snow, renew your driver's license, check out library books, sell you a car, fix your car, roof your house, repair your plumbing or do any of thousands of things the poor and middle class do for work.

I read a recent article about a state employee who stated she had not received a raise in nine years. If they still have a teaching position, ask a teacher how much of an increase they have received in the last few years. Go ask the Koch brothers what they made nine years ago. Now apply the current top rate in Kansas state income tax they now save annually to the hundreds of millions of annual profits they derive. It's easy to see how they literally can buy a politician, or even a majority of an entire Legislature.

Folks, don't laugh. This already has happened in Kansas and is about to happen in other states, too. Should the rich have this much power? I ask you to think about it, especially before you go vote the next time.
