COLBY -- The certified public accounting firm of Adams, Brown, Beran & Ball Chartered participated in an intern community service day June 16. The event was in conjunction with Leading Edge Alliance's Young Professionals Volunteer Week.

"We were delighted to assist Genesis-Thomas County, Prairie Museum of Art and History, and the Thomas County Coalition with service activities for the day," said Brian Staats, managing partner of ABBB. "We have a long tradition of involvement and dedication in our surrounding communities. We highly encourage our team members to take an active role in serving their communities."

Three interns from the ABBB Colby and Hays offices, John Clarke, Sophia Schippers and Jeff Heptig, participated in three community projects. In the morning, a group assisted Genesis, a local food bank, in prepping food for distribution and in restocking the pantry. The other half of the group went to the Prairie Museum of Art and History, where they swept and dusted in the historic Cooper Barn and in other museum buildings. In the afternoon, the entire group assisted the Thomas County Coalition at the community garden. The group installed a park bench, watered plants and pulled weeds.

In 2014, ABBB will employ 13 college interns from five colleges across the state of Kansas. Members of the 2014 intern group hail from Kansas communities such as McPherson, Hutchinson, Hays, Hillsboro, St. John, Victoria, Jetmore, Ness City and Winfield.

ABBB provides a wide range of traditional and non-traditional CPA and consulting services to clients throughout Kansas.
