Stacey Stults reached five years of service with Nex-Tech on Jan. 12. She is a revenue accountant at the Hays office. Tyson Lang reached 10 years of service with Nex-Tech on Feb. 16. He is a central office technician based in Hays.

TOPEKA -- The Kansas Foundation for Medical Care announced the addition of three new members to the 12-member board of trustees. Board members will serve three year terms. Robert H. Cox, MD, FAAP, a retired pediatric physician from Hays, will serve on the board. The board provides oversight for all KFMC activities and offers guidance in quality improvement and health information technology initiatives. Dr. Jennifer Brull, Plainville, also is on the board.

The certified public accounting firm of Adams, Brown, Beran and Ball Chartered announced the addition of Andrew P. Allen to its staff. Allen is a graduate of Thomas More Prep-Marian High School and the son of Nolan and Geralyn Allen. Allen will be a staff accountant in their Hays office. He is a recent summa cum laude graduate from Benedictine College, receiving his bachelor of arts degree in accounting with a minor in economics. In his free time, he enjoys watching and playing sports and exercising.

SALINA -- Every year, the Telly Awards honor the best local and regional television commercials with a prestigious award. Winners are chosen from more than 12,000 entries from all 50 states. This year, Sunflower Bank's commercials promoting their ABC Program featured a smart, engaging performance by a young actor humorously speaking to how Sunflower Bank's ABC Program supports community schools and students. The commercials won the Bronze Telly Award. The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. A prestigious judging panel of more than 500 accomplished industry professionals evaluated the entries against a high standard of merit.

Tammy McClellan was named the new executive director of Heartland Community Foundation at Tuesday's board of director's meeting. McClellan will begin serving in July following the retirement of Bob Lowen, who served as executive director for four years. McClellan was the founder and owner of Simply Charmed, a downtown Hays women's boutique for 10 years until selling the establishment in 2013. She has bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism and mass communications from Kansas State University. She serves on the board of the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce and volunteered as a board member with Heartland Community Foundation for the past four years. McClellan and her husband, Mike, are the parents of four daughters and farm in Rooks and Graham counties. New board members elected to a four-year term on the Heartland Community Foundation board include: Bob Muirhead, director of economic and community development for Midwest Energy; Nikki Pfannenstiel, manager of member services at Sunflower Electric Power Corp.; and Sally Lowry, agent with Heritage Insurance Group with offices in Stockton, Phillipsburg, Logan and Palco, and on the board of Fusion Christian Youth Center in Stockton. New officers were elected to lead HCF for a one-year term. Beginning in July, the new chairman will be Brandon Prough, Bank of Hays senior vice president. Other newly elected officers include: Vice Chairman Susan Bowles, executive director of Hays Area Children's Center; Secretary Mendi Alexander, economic development and networking specialist at Nex-Tech; and Treasurer Steve Baumrucker, partner at Adams, Brown, Beran and Ball. Board members re-elected to serve a second term include Andrew Rupp, executive vice president and treasurer at Insurance Planning Inc.; Shae Veach, vice president of regional operations at Hays Medical Center; Mike Koerner, systems and operations manager for Eagle Communications; and Steve Baumrucker, partner at Adams, Brown, Beran and Ball.
