The Fort Hays State University Sports Information Department garnered national recognition in 2013-14 for its publications. Voted on by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), the FHSU volleyball and women's basketball media guides both ranked third nationally in the college division, which includes all non-NCAA Division I institutions (NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and NJCAA). Overall, sports information director Ryan Prickett now has nine top-five national finishes for media guides at Fort Hays (volleyball, women's basketball and men's basketball combined), teaming with graduate assistant Andrew Sogn who grabs his first two national citations of excellence in publications from CoSIDA. The volleyball media guide was the best in NCAA Division II for the third straight year as Division III member Christopher Newport took top honors and NJCAA member Johnson County Community College took second. Last year, the volleyball guide ranked second nationally in the college division as Prickett teamed with former graduate assistant Tim Hanson, now sports information director at Newman University, and in 2011, Prickett teamed with former graduate assistant Doug Self, now sports information director at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, to earn their first-ever best in nation honor by CoSIDA for the volleyball guide. It also was the third-straight year the women's basketball media guide finished in the top five nationally. It was a 1-2-3 sweep for the state of Kansas for the second straight year, with Johnson County Community College at the top of the list, Washburn second and FHSU third. Jennifer Robinson of Fort Hays State University CTELT designed the covers, and all photos in the guides are provided by Mitch Weber, also of CTELT. Fort Hays State University Printing Services printed the guides. The entire layout, including writing and design, of the guide interiors were done by Prickett and Sogn.
