Hays Eagle Scout earns award

Denton Rathke, Hays Troop No. 101 has earned the Eagle Scout award.

An Eagle Court of Honor ceremony will be at 3 p.m. Sunday. It will be at First United Methodist Church, 305 West Seventh. A reception will follow.

Denton began his scouting career as a Tiger Cub, joining Pack No. 290 at Roosevelt Elementary School. He bridged to Boy Scouting and joined Troop No. 101, chartered to First United Methodist Church and Hays Lions Club.

His Eagle Scout project included organizing a landscaping project to the east and south of the church sanctuary. This included hosting a fundraising dinner, planning, purchasing and planting the new landscaped area. Denton is a sophomore at Hays High School and is the son of Eric and Charlotte Rathke, Hays.
