Two of NASCAR's drivers will compete Aug. 7 at RPM Speedway in Hays for Mod Mania.
The event, sponsored by Federated Auto Parts, will feature NASCAR drivers Ken Schrader and Clint Bowyer.
Schrader, a seasoned veteran who competes at various NASCAR events throughout the country as well as special dirt track events, will be driving the No. 9 Federated Auto Parts IMCA modified.
Bowyer, a native of Emporia, will be driving the No. 15 Crawford Supply IMCA Belleville Motorsports modified. Bowyer, who cut his teeth racing in a modified, has one win on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this year June 24 on the road course at Sonoma, Calif. He is 10th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings.
Mod Mania is an IMCA-sanctioned event and will feature the IMCA mdified and IMCA Northern sport mod divisions. The modified A-feature will pay $2,000 to win and $200 to start, while the sport mods will race for $1,000 to win and $100 to start in the main event.
There is no entry fee, and it will be a draw/redraw event. No track points will be awarded, but IMCA state, regional and national points will be awarded.
Drivers from several states plan to attend.
The pits and grandstands will open at 4:30 p.m., hot laps will be at 6, with racing starting at 7:30.
General admission will be $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 to 12. Children 4 and yougner will be admitted free.
Pit passes will be $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger.
