SALINA, Kan. -- A rarity occured on Friday July 19th as the Belleville Motorsports IMCA Modifieds had a night off for a change. Not so rare was the action on the track as five other divisions returned to battle things out in an evening threatened by the weather from the start.

As rain clouds closed in throughout the evening the Salina Speedway staff was able to get in two feature events before a quick monsoon halted the action.

In the first feature event Mike Traskowsky closed in and picked the right moment to capture victory in the Budweiser IMCA Hobby Stock division. Kelly Pihl would lead early in the event and hold on until the slightest mistake let Traskowsky blow by. Pihl held on for a career high second with GW Fuller third and Aaron McBride fourth. McBride and Fuller won the heat races.

With the rain closing in the T&R Dirt Construction Mini Stocks got their feature event underway and finished just as the raindrops started to fall. Russell Roberg chased down Stacey Huffman and ran side by side for several laps until mechanical problems left Roberg stalled on the backstretch. Huffman held the point and looked to be en route to her first win of the season until the car quit on her taking the white flag, giving Brian Dunsworth the lead and eventual win. Michael Smith finished second with John McNabb third, and Elliott May fourth. Roberg and Smith won the heat races.

Three other divisions will have to wait until later down the road to settle this night.

The Friesen Chevrolet Late Models presented by M&H Motors featured Jimmy Segraves and Delbert Smith taking the heat race wins. The Late Models will return to run their make-up feature from this night on August 9th.

The Coors Light Street Stocks held two heat races as well with Tony Steenson and Brian Ryff besting both heats. The Street Stocks will return on August 2nd to run their make-up feature.

The Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Northern SportMods landed Brandon Belvill and Josh Rice in victory lane for their heat races. The IMCA SportMods will run their make-up race next Friday July 26th.

Since the races made it past the intermission the event is considered a complete show and grandstand tickets along with pit passes will not be honored at a future event as per the rainout policy posted.
