OBERLIN, Kan. -- The United Rebel Sprint Series will make a return trip to the states of Colorado and Nebraska this weekend with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, the Rebels will compete at Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke, Colo. The URSS has had four feature events on the track in the past.
Patrick Bourke won the inaugural feature in 2008 and won last year's race. Cody Salem (2009) and Ty Williams (2010) also have victories at the track.
The URSS competed at the track earlier this season, but Mother Nature forced the cancellation of the feature when rain moved through the area. This weekend's race will not be a double feature.
Races Saturday in Holyoke are set for 7 p.m. Mountain time. Admission is $12 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. Those younger than 5 are free. Pit passes are $30 for adults and $20 for those 10 and younger.
On Sunday, the Rebels take the trip north to Lexington, Neb., to compete on the semi-banked dirt oval at Dawson County Raceway.
Dawson County Raceway has hosted several URSS races since 2007, with Smokey Fairbank winning the inaugural race that season.
Jeff Radcliffe won the last two times the Rebels competed at the track, including a victory May 5 of this year. Brian Herbert and Jon Johnson are the only other URSS drivers to win multiple races at the track.
Races begin at 6:30 p.m. Central time Sunday.
Both races are Colorado Region races for the URSS. Mark Walinder, fresh off his win Saturday at Thomas County Speedway in Colby, leads the Colorado Region with 436 points in three events. John Jacob is second with 414, followed by Blake Smith (412) and Coby Pearce (408). Brian and Butch Hardman are tied for fifth with 386 points.
