The National Association for Campus Activities recently elected Edie McCracken, director of Memorial Union at Fort Hays State University, to its board of directors. McCracken has worked in campus activities for 15 years. Prior to her role at the university, McCracken had the position of assistant director of the union. Active in NACA, she has served as institute series coordinator, institute facilitator, central region conference logistics coordinator and other leadership roles. She has presented several educational sessions during NACA regional conferences and national conventions. McCracken also has been published in "Campus Activities Programming," NACA's award-winning publication, and has been honored numerous times for her accomplishments in student activities. She also actively is involved with other professional organizations, including the Association of College Unions International, the Association of Student Personnel Administrators and the National Association for College Auxiliary Services. McCracken has a bachelor of science degree from East Central University, Ada, Okla., and a master's degree in higher education administration from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

Each year, UFG presents an agency of the year award to one agency in each of their various regions. This long-standing award was created to recognize the agency that has demonstrated both outstanding profitability and growth for UFG. Founded in 1968, Insurance Planning has more than 40 years of experience serving the business and personal insurance needs of western Kansas residents. It is the largest independent insurance agency in the region and has four locations to serve clients.

Golden Plains Credit Union employee Tanner Gross received the 2013 Star Award at Golden Plains' annual meeting in April in Garden City. The Star Award is presented to a Golden Plains' employee who consistently provides superior service within the credit union. Gross was nominated by his peers. Gross has worked at Golden Plains Credit Union for two-and-a-half years, and he is a member service representative at the Hays location. He was praised for being helpful to staff and members. He quickly has built his own clientele, and members love working with him. His peers look to him for advice and wisdom. Gloria Rader received the 2013 Member Service Award at the annual meeting. The Member Service Award is presented to a Golden Plains' employee who has exemplified outstanding member service. Rader was nominated by her peers. She has worked at Golden Plains for four years, and she is a special accounts manager for the special accounts department in Hays. Rader was praised for being knowledgeable in all aspects of the business. Her co-workers appreciate her level of professionalism and strength in a variety of situations.

Scott Focke, Andra Allen and Koleen Barrett from the Family Center for Health Care recently attended the Kansas Medical Group Management Association Conference in Wichita on April 23 to 25 at the Wichita Marriott hotel. More than 130 managers from all types of medical practices throughout the state participated in the conference, including 57 exhibitors. Kansas Medical Group Management Association is the state affiliate of Medical Group Management Association. Its 300 members are administrators of nationally known clinics, large- and small-group practices, and free-standing, hospital affiliated and university affiliated medical groups in the state of Kansas.
