Hays High grad selected for international work

Justus Kilian, a 2001 Hays High School graduate, recently was chosen as one of 12 participants from nearly 1,000 applicants worldwide for the Acumen Global Fellows program. He will train for two months in New York City and then work for one year in Gulu, Uganda, with the Gulu Agricultural Development Co.

Justus Kilian, a 2001 Hays High School graduate, recently was chosen as one of 12 participants from nearly 1,000 applicants worldwide for the Acumen Global Fellows program. He will train for two months in New York City and then work for one year in Gulu, Uganda, with the Gulu Agricultural Development Co.

Kilian is the son of Randall and Terry Kilian, formerly of Hays. He received a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Kansas. He also received a Charter Financial Analyst designation and in June, graduated from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with a master of business administration degree in economics, econometrics, entrepreneurship and international business.

He has worked for Northern Trust Co. and Merrill Lynch. He has worked in or traveled to more than 40 countries.
