OMAHA, Neb. -- Originally scheduled to play two games Friday, the Hays Senior Legion baseball team played just one, but picked up a 5-1 victory against North Field, Minn.

The Eagles' second game, against Omaha Benson, was called off after water hose broke and soaked the field.

In the win against North Field, Clayton Basgall picked up the complete-game victory. He gave up eight hits, but only one unearned run with 10 strikeouts to just one walk. He got a big lift from an RBI double and a two-RBI double in the first inning from Chandler Rule and Layne Downing, respectively as Hays (10-9) took a 3-0 lead. Then John Griffith had an RBI double in the fourth inning. The Eagles' other run came in the sixth when Kade Parker scored on an error.

Hays was scheduled to play two games Saturday with Sunday's schedule to be announced.
