Indian wrestlers third at Topeka-Seaman

TOPEKA -- The Hays High School wrestling team took third place Saturday in the Topeka-Seaman Dual Invitational. The Indians finished 3-2 with wins against K.C.-Turner (42-39), Royal Valley (53-18) and Shawnee Mission East (53-18). Hays High lost to Blue Valley Southwest (37-33) and host Seaman (43-28).

Four Indian wrestlers finished the day unbeaten, beginning with Isaac Zimmerman at 106 pounds. Zimmerman had two matches won by forfeit, and earned two pins. Ethan Deterding also was unbeaten at 182 pounds with two forfeits. Preston Weigel was unbeaten at 195 with just one forfeit, and Vincent Scott went 5-0 at 285, with two forfeits.

Hays High next wrestles in a dual at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Dodge City.
