OTTAWA, Kan. (AP) -- Authorities say they are investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were found in a barn in east-central Kansas as homicides.

Franklin County authorities say the bodies were found Monday afternoon in a barn near Ottawa.

Sheriff Jeff Richards says the deaths appear to be homicides. He declined to release other details, including the genders of the victims or how they were killed.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Department is helping with the investigation.
