Newton Medical Center's new $1.2 million CT scanner system will be the highlight of the Newton Chamber of Commerce's Biz Connections event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 17 at the hospital's imaging department, 600 Medical Center Drive, according to a news release.

The scanner captures higher quality images in less time using less radiation, according to the release. The machine also has a larger opening and higher weight limits than the hospital's old equipment.

The hospital purchased the machine in May. The machine, Aquillion Prime CT, is produced by Toshiba America Medical Systems.
