April 14--Winter is paying a cameo visit to Kansas, forecasters say, and Wichita won't be spared. Measurable snow was being reported Sunday in western Kansas and snow could fall in much of the state.

Perhaps a half-inch of snow could dust Wichita by the time flurries end late Monday morning, forecasters say. Highs will only reach the mid-40s by afternoon, when skies are expected to begin clearing.

North winds will be robust, blowing steadily in the teens and low 20s and gusting to more than 30 miles an hour. A hard freeze is expected through much of the state Monday night, with lows dropping in the mid- to upper 20s.

Winds will ease after midnight and shift to the east, forecasters say. Tuesday will feel more like spring again, with highs touching 60 under sunny skies. Winds will be variable, ultimately switching to the south and becoming gusty again. Steady breezes will be in the teens, with gusts topping 25 miles an hour.

Wednesday is shaping up to be even warmer, forecasters say, with highs in the mid-60s.
